Which License would I use?

I think if I created something completely unique and special to me I would put full copyright on it because I wouldn't want someone to copy what I have created. I guess the only way I would change my mind is if it was something that is meant to be used by other people in order to create something else. I don't know I can really say for sure exactly what I would do unless I knew what I was going to create.

This image I found on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This site allows you to use images without obtaining permission, however they want you to give credit to the creator. I think it is difficult to find images without any restrictions at all. At least this site allows you to use the images however you want as long as you credit the source. That is a lot easier than having to obtain permission and then have to worry about how you are using the image.

  1. Beautiful image. I see your point about putting it out there if it's something that is meant to be used by others.

How do you know, though, what others may want to use? Something beautiful that you create may be made even more beautiful when edited/altered/mashedup by someone else.

I struggle with this a lot. Can't say as I'd make everything I created be for use by all either.

  2. Sorry, my wife said that because she was logged in and I said it. Not because she actually said it. :)

  3. Good point Jacob. I don't know. I think there are advantages to both ways. On one hand you don't want someone else receiving all the credit for something you did, but on the other hand some things are meant to be shared, built upon and reworked. It's hard to say what I would actually do.
